President's Message
As a longtime resident of Northern Ontario, I intimately know how vast our region is. With many communities separated by thousands of kilometres, delivering efficient communication solutions to all citizens of our region can be a difficult task. Tbaytel is up to the challenge. We have a remarkable history of quality service, innovation and expansion – in the city, and throughout the region. We take care of our neighbourhood.
Tbaytel's technical capabilities, infrastructure and commitment to the North are robust. In 2010 we built the regions first next generation, high capacity, wireless network. In combination with our existing networks, we provide customers with access to the region’s largest digital cellular coverage and to extensive communications solutions that enable residents of northern communities to overcome geographical and climatic barriers to make global contacts. Tbaytel unites the people of Northern Ontario with each other and to the world.
For over 100 years, Tbaytel has been a sturdy and dependable economic engine, yielding significant results for customers, company, community and region. Through agile and focused business decisions that anticipate customer needs, we constantly strive to increase value for our stakeholders. Tbaytel has, for many years, thrived in an aggressive marketplace and continues to offer competitive telecom solutions for businesses and homes. Our 2010 launch of Digital TV marks our most recent product innovation and offers customers the latest in video entertainment experiences.
Tbaytel is a vital contributor to the quality of life and the infrastructure of our neighbourhood of Northern Ontario. We believe that vibrant strong communities benefit everyone. Last year alone Tbaytel supported almost 100 community events throughout the region and paid dividends totaling over $27 million to The City of Thunder Bay. Tbaytel has been a telecom pioneer in Thunder Bay and Northern Ontario since 1902. When Port Arthur and Fort William merged their individual telephone services in 1970, Thunder Bay Telephone was created. For over 100 years, Tbaytel has recognized the importance of evolution and innovation.
